I finally took my own good advice and have been working on "Ubu's T&T 5.67754th Edition", and I came across a very nit-picky question while editing: Does it really matter to have the abbreviations for the various character attributes standardized at either two or three letters? Specifically, I started going with STR DEX CON INT CHR and POW, realized LK was only two letters and decided to go with LUK - but that looks kind of stupid, I think. So I went with standardized two-letter abbreviations, i.e. ST DX LK CN IQ CR PW. But now I wonder if CN and CR are sufficently different to be quickly recognizable, like CON and CHR/CHA are. And if I go back to three letters, what about Luck? LCK, maybe? Like I said, nit-picky.

Ooo! Nit-picky-ness! Actually, in this case I wouldn't mind any of the ones you propose. It could be two letters for all but the ones that would be closely similar, so make charisma CHA and constitution CON and all else two letters.... Actually, I think that's pretty much how it's put forth in 5th. *checks* Yep. 'Cept for "DEX". Though I do agree that "LUK" looks...weird. How 'bout this? Work around the "LUK" issue. Where ever it brings you to avoid that. ;D

What about LCK for Luck?

Where ever it brings you to avoid that. ;D Successfull delvers typically have high LUK. LUK spelt backwards is KUL, which we all know is troll-accented Common-tongue for 'kill'. ULK is what the not-so-successful delver utters when his LUK runs out and the Troll tries to KUL him... Seriously though, I prefer three letter acronyms and have simply adopted LCK for Luck as it looks better to my eye. Though with the above stated letter-gymnastics I may change that...

I actually sympathize with this, I always end up just not giving Luck an abbreviation and just writing it out. It's too long to really fit and to short to make a good abbreviation, there is no winning in this situation. LCK is ok, LUK is strange and will surely lead to the resurrection of the dark elder gods......just an opinion.

I don't mind any of the above, I am working on a rule set (oh c'mon! Who isn't!) and I went with LUK but I may call it Fate. That gives me FAT, FTE or FAE....oh boy...now what do I do!

For a more epic tone how about "Destiny" shorten it to DES, not terrible, not great either though.
Fate huh?, FTE, FAT.....yes I think we've arrived back at our original "Luck" problem nicely! ;D
Karma? No that arries way to much baggage and reduces to KAR, not exactly stellar.
How about Fortune? Reduces to FOR, and has a swashbuckling air about it, not bad.
I like the sound of that "Make a 2nd level Fortune SR to swing over to the enemies ship without getting hit by stray missile fire".

"FAE" would be particularly appropriate for a Fairy character... It could be two letters for all but the ones that would be closely similar, so make charisma CHA and constitution CON and all else two letters.... But it's gotta be either three letters or two all the way through! It's GOTTA. gotta gotta gotta! NNnnnnnnnn!!! (I think I may suffer from low-level OCD in such situations... ) I just think I'll go with three letters and LCK. Now to obsess over what to do with HT and WT...

way ahead of you here, I'm minimalistic and "efficient."
St, Lk, Pw, Dx, Ch, et al. Three letters just takes too much d**n time to type.
