They're usually stuck for a reason.

<dons moderator hat, positioning it with a rakish tilt>
We can un-stick threads on a case-by-case basis, if someone has a good reason for requesting it. But as dekh says, they are generally sticky for a reason, and many of those reasons don't have any particular expiration date.
If anyone does have a specific reason why a thread should be made sticky or unsticky, feel free to post it. Or if you prefer, you can send a message to a staff member about the matter.

mosker,
I'll give that some thought. Thanks for the suggestion.

Has something just changed on Trollbridge? Suddenly I can't see all the threads unless I log in.
I understand there may be a reason for keeping some material private, but it does give any casual visitor the impression there is less on here than is actually the case.
From a purely selfish perspective, in the past I haven't always logged in unless I see a post I want to reply to.
Thanks for any insight available.

Has something just changed on Trollbridge? Suddenly I can't see all the threads unless I log in. Good morning, houndle . This was indeed a change that was made in the last, oh, 24 hours. The main impetus is the number of spammers who are posting to various threads without logging in. This will limit that significantly, if not altogether. Secondarily, there are more than 250 accounts that have been created where the user never made a post. To put that in perspective, there are just over 700 accounts on TrollBridge. Many, many times folks create an account to see what else is in a forum. Limiting some content, anything outside of the General categories, to members would have little impact in these situations. Our sincere apologies to anyone where this change causes annoyance. We're really hoping to specifically annoy the drive-by spammers who couldn't be bothered to even create an account before trashing our little community.

Correlation is not necessarily causality, but this may in part be on me: I recently posted a link to the bridge in one of the private (snort!) T&T/M!M! Facebook groups. And especially as they have lost one of their most responsible admins... Off to remove the offending text. Big apologies. David

Thanks ProfGremlin, I'm aware it's a difficult line to tread. Obviously I can modify my behaviour to make sure I log in each time I visit. Was just a little concerned... I visited the Trollbridge as an occasional guest for about 2 years before I finally joined, and it was some of the content which is now "invisible" that finally decided me. Not that I am necessarily a typical user being inherently distrustful of technology - it took a global pandemic to get me using a credit card...

The main impetus is the number of spammers who are posting to various threads without logging in. Isn't there some way you can make it so you can't post UNLESS you're logged in? That's how all the other sites work it, or is that not possible with ProBoards? I'm like Houndle, I scan and only log in if I'm going to reply to something.
