After a toddler got into my backgammon set, half the pieces are missing. But I still have the dice, including a doubling cube numbered 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64.
I keep looking at the doubling cube and wondering if there are any ways I could exploit it for use in T&T or some other OSR or role-playing purpose.
Maybe the GM could use it to randomly set the Saving Roll level for a given stunt: "Running with those scissors is, let's see… <roll> …a level 32 Saving Roll. You need to get 175." Or, "You want to swing the dragon by the tail and throw it over the Barrier Mountains? That will be a… <roll> …level 2 Saving Roll, please."
I'll post other ideas here as they come. But until then, what would you use it for?

I like the total random unfairness of it! Game balance is over rated!

Roll 3 of them for character generation? With TARO, of course...
Slightly more seriously, a set of them could be good for generating random amounts of treasure. "You find (rolls 64 + 32 + 8 + 32) 136 gp in the chest."

Useful for setting random Monster MR's - particularly random citizens (that kid you pushed over, is he a street urchin or a secret kung fu master?)
