WELCOME TO THE MONSTERARY OF ZIMRALA !I'm starting this thread as a place for you to ask questions and make suggestions in regards to Zimrala. If you are a fan of Ken St Andre's work - this is the new world where his adventures, solos and fiction will be taking place. Others from the classic team will also be working on Zimrala based projects including Stefan Jones, Bear Peters, Debora Kerr, Steve Crompton (me) and perhaps others of you, as we go forward to build and explore this new world. w00t! w00t! The solitaire adventure that was developed as part of the "Monsterary of Zimrala" Kickstarter has been playtested, laid out, illustrated and published! It is available as a downloadable PDF on DriveThruRPG: www.drivethrurpg.com/product/416362/Mission-for-a-Cat-GoddessA playtester suggested including stats for the major NPCs. We did that . . . and added a whole GM Adventure section around back, with a map and description of the semi-abandoned city of Thu-Eban. It includes M!M! mini-rules, so you can dive right in. And "quick play" rules -- very minimal -- for people who want to dispense with most of the clutter of RPG rules. Well, I am enjoying it. Lots of new monsters. But for me, its transfer to Trollworld. But good detail, enjoying pictures, descriptions and presentation. This is good!  Well over 130 pages of monsters, not know exact number of monsters. Too tired to count, but triple figures I guess, good stuff. |

Great! So glad you are liking it and enjoying it. I think there are 111 or 112 monsters. We are at press now and expect the book back from the printers in the near future!

Just gave page 36 a read. I find that very helpful, I know that I know been playing this game on and off for well over 40 years. But seeing it written gives me a structure to based my newly created creatures on. I was happy with the Attribute array and thought it was for every creature/monster but it not (though there is a lot in second section). I would have preferred an attribute array for the monsters between Albinogurs and the Zhroggle, because I moving (personally) toward the Essence (ESS) combat system, as I making a few changes to that Combat Style of play. trollbridge.proboards.com/post/64569/threadMaybe in future there could be supplement addon for such things? It good to get an idea of the expects' thinking of a monster's structure via attributes. Cheers |

Certainly its possible - We'll have to do a lot more looking into the ESS combat system you mentioned - I've never heard of it. The reason that not all the creatures have stats is taht some creatures are either too powerful or not intelligent enough to really be played as characters - they are meant to be run by the GM.
But unlike other rpgs we encourage you to change and adjust the rules to suit YOUR needs and ideas!

Well, its a conversion of Ken's idea he has in his M!M! Battle School solo.* So, to use properly even the monsters must have Attributes. But it not difficult for me to try and reconstruct, just would be quicker to have stats. stuff from basic M!M! helps, but trying to decide what the Attributes are for an Apex Spider can be tricky. *I have added an Essence Defence, and at present adjusting armour protection and weapon damage. I do enjoy MR, it quick and and less time consuming. But the more personal construct of monster can give an idea of it form, but also weaken it greatly, so hence still need to sort numbers. Working progress. Neil |

Very cool! Part of hte point of the new M!M! is that it encorages you to adapt it as you see fit and as you need it. We hope that adaptability is one of our strentghs. In the meantime we keep working on new things for M!M!

All my time has been devoted to working on shipping out this Kickstarter. So i just don't remember if its updated or not. One of you intrepid fans will need to check and let us know what you find...
