For me, it's not dislike so much as preferring other solos more. I like Deathtrap Equalizer Dungeon and Beyond the Silvered Pane well enough.

Okay, here's a question - why the apparent dislike for DED and Silver Pane? Is it the format? Not enough plot? Bad encounters? I'm just wondering 'cause those were two of the first T&T solos I ever bought, and the whole "this guy runs a dungeon and you're going through it" scheme seems like an archetype of the T&T delving experience, KSA's equivalent of "The party meets at a tavern and a grizzled crazy old man has a tale to tell you". For me, it was because they are/were "teleport dungeons". They weren't true dungeons that you could explore, but instead ones where you are sent to a random room or a series of disconnected encounters if you went the long trip. Many of these encounters were just a single room or event. They were fun though, the difficulty wasn't as high as the other FBI solos, but you could exhaust the possibilities pretty quickly with a single character and move on. Not necessarily a bad thing. I consider it a plus that I can get in quick sessions with those 2 solos. But if I want to get deep into a solo, I prefer one where I'm actually walking or traveling around someplace on my own two feet or a boat or a horse.

I think thats a very fair evaluation.
I actually really enjoy these two (and why I am looking forward to the arrival of the Delvers Pack and T.E.R.R.O.R) becuase of the many different situations they put you in. The Mirror Marathon/Lion Trips are real challenges- and also get a character ready for the tougher solos (City of Terrors for example).
But there is a lot of atmosphere from a themed solo, and i did vote for city of terrors as my favourite.

I have a soft spot for Sword for Hire as it was the first solo I played (first anything I played). Also, Arena of Khazan that was the first solo I owned and I loved that, but overall I think Overkill is my favourite. The artwork is one reason, the atmosphere is the other. It's just so well written and has a great Sword & Sorcery feel. Plus you know, I got to be a General in the Khazanian army. ;D

I think Overkill and Dargon's Dungeon are really cool solos because of the fact they allow a party to enter them. Which means, you could easily (without modification), make it not a solo but a multi.

Hmmmm tell me more of this Overkill please.... This is the one FBI solo I never got my mits on. From the back cover . . . Out of the north swept the hordes of Lerotra'hh the Death Goddess of Khazan. Led by veterans of the Khazan-Ranger wars, the Khazani troops overwhelmed the token resistance in the south until they came to the keep of Marionarsis, near the southern end of the mountain pass Known as the Gap in the Teeth of the Gods.
The Veterans call Marionarsis a wizard-butcher and a necromancer - and they call his castle . . .
OVERKILL
Your character is one of the Khazani Death Host, and is asked to perform a secret mission of destruction inside the castle called Overkill.
You can take up to 12 levels of character through the dungeon. There's a magic matrix, wandering monster tabel and a cool Military Sentence table if you fail your mission! It's one of the few solos without the trademark T&T humour and like I said it has a great S&S vibe. I have the 2nd edition which was completely re-written and revised by Micheal Stackpole from a previous edition by Mike Brines. The artist is Chris Carlson and his work is great. Unfortunately I can't find a picture the cover anywhere online. Shame.

That's a GREAT cover, thanks for posting it! I completed my collection of 'official' FB solos a couple of years ago but realise there may be a few different editions I don't have. One of my all time 'newer' faves is Dark Temple. I loved that one, althougn it did lack the charm and whimsy (as do some of mine I admit...) of the early cardstock cover solos. Don't think I ever got a character through Overkill alive

I don't think I ever did either, Boozer. Or Amulet of Salkti. No, I take it back, I had one character abandon that solo and it cost him dearly haha. But Overkill is well named, same goes for Naked Doom. But, I have had many many a character die within the first encounter or second encounter in the Amulet. So that's why I call it difficult.

Wow never seen the colour version. All our solos were the mono cardstock digest versions which I kinda almost prefer. However, I think that's more to do with nostalgia than aesthetics.
Thanks for posting that Jong. My cover (detached from solso) is so tattered and worn I can barely see the detail anymore.

No problem. Overkill is kind of rare too, unfortunately, at least in that color cover version. I think the same goes for Dargon's Dungeon, as I've thought about buying extra copies for when they turn into what yours is looking like now heheh. But, I just didn't feel up to spending $20-30 for a backup I guess, when they came around. Especially since my Labyrinth is a monochrome. If anything, I'd buy the color cover of that which I don't have instead.
