I got this mini module by AR Holmes from Spirit Games.
It has a nice atmospheric feel to it, with good descriptions, and fitting tests. It is designed as scaleable .It does not specify whether for 5e or 7e, but does require a Speed rating.
The threats are a reasonable match for a L1 adventurer, and there are some powerful rewards for such. Succeeded on the 3rd run through with a hobbit rogue who benefited from some good stat rolls, having lost a human warrior and dwarf rogue in prior attempts.
Its a classic dungeon bash with a lot of save or die situations. Quite speedy to play through. I had fun, and it has a classic t&t feel. 7 out of 10 from me.
Andy is probably the best T&T module writer out there at present. Ken St. Andre seems to think so, and I agree. I may be biased - he's a good friend, and we keep in touch fairly frequently despite being on opposite sides of the globe - but I don't think that makes me wrong in this case!
If you haven't checked out the Hobgoblin's Tavern, you should really do so. Lots of freebie GM adventures, plus the stuff that's available at his shop.
Cheers order99, and zanshin for the pleasant review. The Ice caverns was a surprise 'hit' for me. I wrote it very quickly for Hobbit Hole, and it proved very popular.
Gotta say Zanshin that I'm delighted that you picked up a copy from Spirit Games shop! I really must pay them a visit one day. I had planned to run a T&T dungeon for their 'Beer & pretzels' weekend last year but family comittments got in the way I'm afraid.
Hi Mahrundl, thanks for the kind words old buddy! :-)
Mahrundl has been a loyal follower of all things Hobgoblin's Tavern related and a good friend to chat to on email, plus he just bought a stack of T&T products from the Tavern Shop, so for all this, I Exhalt him!
Thanks for the kind words for the review Boozer - I must say that I am generally really impressed with your prolific production of T&T material , im looking forward to running my group through Maximilians Mansion after they finish Dungeon of the Rat. Im going to downgrade some of the rewards but hey, I'm just a mean GM
Well, I've kinda slowed down a lot this year Zanshin, but don't plan to give up completely! I've promised "that guy" that I'll write stuff for Hobbit Hole, and have a few GM dungeons & solos in development, that I would love to find the time to finish! Let me know how you find Max's Mansion! I'm a mean GM too - isn't it fun! Heh!
