Yep, i'd say T&T 4th and Monsters! Monsters! would be a perfect fit! Do the weapons have the same Dice as 5th ed., or are they reduced by one as Monsters! Monsters! was? You just HAD to whet my appetite didn't you Fenris? Oh well, guess i'd better line up T&T 4th for January... Yep, Order99, Monsters! Monsters! and T&T4e are a "perfect fit." Actually, Monsters! Monsters! would, nowdays, be considered a "sourcebook" for T&T4e. They look identical (same typeset, same art style, same layouts, etc.), they have the same writing style, they use the same rules (the "1d Marksmanship Rule" is also in Monsters! Monsters!, by the way and as an example). And Ken writes, on page 4 of Monsters! Monsters!, "you may find the Tunnels & Trolls rules and supplement useful, as they do contain detailed tables of weapons, high-level magic, provisions, etc., that are not included in this variant." So, yeah, when you get it, you'll see what I mean. They are definitely "two sides of the same coin."

As a card carrying "goth" (seriously, I'll show you my card sometime) and "dark arts/occult" fanatic, I am seriously drooling over this solo. I'm getting my dice all slimy..... Allow me to point you here then, Fenris: Hobgoblin's Tavern Holiday Themed Adventures ;D

I just received my copy of T&T 4th yesterday, and have just skimmed it - but yes indeedy, Fenris, it is a thing of beauty. And some great illustrations! BTW, I got Official T&T playing cards with my orders - according to the handy-dandy table in Monsters! Monsters!, according to the first card I'm a Giant Slug (oh, THANKS, "that guy"! ) but according to the one I got with T&T 4th I'm a Mer-Person, which is much more preferable.

I'm in love. Dude, my card was 2/Diamonds, which makes me a Basilisk. How cool is that! According to the M!M! rulebook, I'm a small lizard hatched from a rooster's egg and raised by a toad on a dungheap, "which explains its perversity." Finally, something explains my perversity! I've always wondered about that!

Finally, something explains my perversity! I've always wondered about that! Fenris, I suspect that being born and raised as a basilisk is nowhere *near* sufficient to explain your perversity...

Still waiting on my purchase...oh well. Checked the card, Queen of Diamonds-a Ghost! Cool...er, wait. I can't react physically with the environment(rats!), but I am "likely to be a Magic-User myself". Okay, time to blackmail a Wizard and... Magic has a STR cost-I don't have a STR score!!!!! AAAAAUUUUUGHHH!!!!! Well, I suck as an individual threat, but maybe as a TEAM player: Basilisk-crap, they've all got mirrors! Somebody ratted us out! I need a distraction... Slug-Eeeat now? Huuungry- Me-I'm all OVER this one Dudes...HEY LOOK AT ME, YEAH OVER HERE!!! (rips own face off and eats it) Delver Party- (drop mirrors and run around screaming, Wizard unable to cast spells, Warrior suddenly Fights Like A Little Girl etc.) Basilisk-THAT's better(glances at Wizard. Wizard becomes Basalt) Slug-Yuum.(Eats Hobbit, gains XP) Me-Wish I could get XP for eating Hobbits...Death just ain't fair. Hey, can I have that spellbook? Maybe I can PRETEND to cast Spells or something... Basilisk-and how you gonna CARRY it Vapor Boy? Heh... Me-

At last, my "that company" package-T&T 4th ed. and: Tunnels & Trolls: 2007 House Rules ("that guy", Brian Penn, Mike Hill,Others, 142 pages) Where do I start? There's just so MUCH here: Classes and Kindred-one new Class (the Professional) and several new Kindred. The author also introduces the concept of Sub-Types, Humans whose backgrounds warrant a modifier to Abilities-Barbarians, Slaves etc. Combat-many new options, several new weapons choices, Durability ratings for materials etc. An optional Skills system, and an easy method of Gurps-like Advantage/Disadvantages using the Skill rules. Equipment-lots of it, with appropriate costs, lots of random treasure generators which include everything from Gem types to Minor Magic to Food (yum!). Magic-a dozen optional Collages to expand and give direction to the Wizard, three new types of magic (Herbalism, Crystalmantic, Tarot Cartomancy) a few Rogue resources and some alternate Foci rules. A set of essential charts for 5.5 ed. the Survival Kit. In addition, 7th ed. gets some Houserules as well-both the Regular and the Alternate sets, courtesy of Mike Hill. If you have the Hobbit Hole # 6, 7, 8, 9 then you've seen them. Still, it's great to find them all in one reference. Need it? Nope. Want it? Depends on whether you like reading other designers' Houserules. I for one LOVE having such a buffet to pick and choose from-your mileage may vary. To me, the section on Herb Magic was worth the price of admission...perfect for a Dark Ages to Middle Ages Witch or Alchemist! Worth it? See above-but it's a HUGE book at a good price. I recommend it heartily.

First 7 hobbit holes arrived yesterday and have been eagerly devoured.
They have a nice indie press feel to them, and with some great solos and scenarios. I am looking forward to running Dungeon of the Rat with my group.
Eagerly awaiting HH 8-11

and now HH 8-11 have arrived.
Excellent value - often 2 or 3 solos/scenarios per issue in the later ones, plus interesting articles, including many by the Trollgod
I highly recommend both the magazine and "that company"'s service.

What are hobbit hole 1-7 like? I've got 8-11 and am really curious what the magazine was like in the 'early years'.

6 and 7 have got a similair level of quantity and content to 8-11 so if you liked them , you should have no trouble liking 6 & 7.
1 to 4 are nice quality reprints, but the material is sparser, and it is less professional in feel. No 5 is a pocket sized magazine.
No 1 has a nice gm dungeon, and 3 & 4 have Ken St Andre mini solos.
I would say all are good value for money, but 6+ even more so.
