Hello, As you must now all be aware, the EPOSIC tools are no longer available (see Trollhalla for the reasons why it happened). When I play a solo, I always use a few tools like Track'n Troll, chargen and ProDice. I downloaded them a few years ago and they were made for version 5, but are excellent. chargen enables you to buy equipment after you create the character and even includes a function to drop expensive items, "awkward items" (depending on your DEX compared to the DEX required) and heavy items (depending on your STR) so you have a good overlook of the best choices. I find it very useful and I was able to update the equipment table very easily (I added the v. 7 equipment and specific items). It includes speed, power and different cheats, including "Ken dice" (TARO). There is also a name generator which I would be happy to change, but I haven't been able to do so. Does any of you know if those tools can be updated? Chargen and ProDice were written by a pete@demonspawn.net.

I've never heard of any of these programs (other than EPOSICs online tools, and I don't visit Trollhalla so I doin't know why they were taken down; but disappointed I was when they were). However, if they are actual programs that require downloading, then in order to update them you'd probably need the source code to do so (probably as in unless it uses some external data files that you can edit). And unless theyre GPL/GNU etc/on Sourceforge, then that source code is only available from that guy pete@demonspawn.net. And of course, you'll need a compiler in that case. They sound like some cool applications though, I'd like to get my hands on them.

They sound like some cool applications though, I'd like to get my hands on them. I Google'd (What an interesting language, English, where a brand name can become a verb...) the Track'n Troll and found two archived references to a webpage that is no longer in existance. I'm not sure about the Chargen since demonspawn.net is also non-existant. I have a copy of Chargen but I can't recall where I found it. I wonder if, in the case of tools such as these, it would be worth posting them in The Trollbridge Files that Vin setup? If the websites referenced in the copyright info are no longer in existance I think there'd be quite some difficulty in getting email there as well for permission to post them, not that I'm advocating ignoring someone's copyright just expecting a failure in communication from the outset. As far as the name generator, are you refering to the Everchanging Book of Names? If so, send me a list of the names that you're interested in and I can compile the file for you and email it back. Just drop it in the main folder of the program and that's about it.

Having recently completed developing a few apps for Traveller, I'm currently working on a T&T app. If this will ever see the light of day I don't know and I hate pre announcing apps. I'll be calling for beta testers soon if it goes ahead. Currently this app is not for player characters but GMs to generate NPCs and roll combat during their game. NOTE: I only develop for the Mac and iPod Touch. www.ilike.co.nz/SoftwareDev/Traveller.html

I had an on-going conversation with the author of Track'n'Troll for a while. I can see if his e-mail address is still current, if anyone is interested.
Do you have links for the other tools, grrrall?

Boo, Mac! LOL. Well, yeah if you can get in touch with the author that'd be great. I'd like to try/use them if they're as good as they sound (for PC), without stepping over anyones toes.

Well, as much as I disliked doing so, I went to Trollhalla to see why these tools have been taken down. All I saw was much drama over some 'to do' with Rick Loomis having some (alleged, and indeed that allegation seems well-contested) with Kayd'haik working to publish T&T stuff, and that Kayd'haik has also left Trollhalla (so I guess we'll never see him back here again). *shrug* I guess that may have something to do with it if it was he that developed those webtools...

Oddly, I catch a few whifs of folks discussing the possibility of a forum....umm...what? errr.....Hello!!! We're already here!
Are there members of Trollhalla who have no idea of the existence of the 'Bridge?!?
(Woops. Apologies for the threadjack...)

Mach, those forum wiffs only relate to the new edition of T&T - they're looking at a forum to discuss the game's development.

Thanks for clearing that misconception of mine up.

So, sounds like red tape. Ugh. Eposic's chargen was great, since I could quickly get to it from any computer and he had 5th Edition! I've sometimes thought about creating my own application tools, I could, but there's no point in re-inventing the wheel if someone already has a great app ready to go.

Hi!
As for the name generator, I'm not refering to the Everchanging Book of Names. The name generator was included in chargen, which does not have anything to do with the EPOSIC tools. I also like Track'n Troll because it also permits combat simulation (it automatically computes your DICE and ADDS, you just have to select the weapons and armor you're wearing and you then enter the monster's MR - unfortunately, the v. 7 rules would imply a few changes in that regard). The email adress I have does not work anymore so I cannot contact the author. Since all 3 software items are shareware, I'll try and upload them in this forum.

Well, is there any uploading function on TrollBridge? I wasn't able to get my hands on it anyway :-( I'm still willing to send the software. How is it to be done?
