Well, people like "that guy" and Rick Loomis who see pdfs as a threat usually don't see it your way, Machfront. Personally I think they are just so wrong, but it's their business, not mine.
Mind you, Kevin Siembieda now publishes stuff as pdf. Hell is getting chillier...

Piracy has happened for a long time. Back when I started gaming it was via Xerox machine. Now they're scanned and PDFed. More efficient, but the same thing.
I love PDF copies of my gaming materials, but I also buy the dead-tree versions. I like the PDF when I'm at the computer but want paper copies for at the table.
Also, with a PDF I can print off certain pages. Maybe it's a map that I want to be able to write on during the adventure. Maybe it's a list of monster stats, or a special encounter table. I just find that PDF files are useful in ways that the paper version isn't, so I like both.
I'd prefer legal PDFs. If not, I'm willing to look around....

Ah, so many good points. I must concede to mahrundl's statements. Sorry, mahrundl, I didn't realize how much more expensive it was for you to obtain T&T materials, what with import costs and whatnot. so, I take that back, I guess they're not as inexpensive [for everyone], but inexpensive for some. I don't have the links for where I saw those illegal PDFs. When I get a chance, I'll go through my browsing history to see if I can find them (if they're still there) and forward it to them/Rick if anyone has the contact info for me to do that. I remember seeing 5th and 7th ed manuals in the file list description. So, apparently 5e is still floating around. Now whether its 5e or 5.5e, 7e or 7.5, I am not sure. That would require downloading and I'm hesitant about any questionable P2P files that could contain malware, so YOU can try it but not me! LOL

I just notified "that guy" about a pirate of m6.
I've not encountered a pirate of 7.x since 7.0 was released in PDF by FDP....
jongjungbu - check your PM's. Rick's public work email is in there.

Sorry, mahrundl, I didn't realize how much more expensive it was for you to obtain T&T materials, what with import costs and whatnot. No worries. There's no particular reason that you should have known about postage costs to Australia. One of the downsides of living Down Under... (There are advantages too, just not in this particular aspect. There are places that are cheaper, postage-wise - "that company" is one - but it is expensive to get hard copy here.

Well spotted Aramis. "that guy" sent me your email but he seemed more concerned why this edition was being referred to as M6E....
Machfront I'm a bit dazed and confused. I'm generally surprised to learn of people who've heard of T&T let alone people who know the ins-and-outs enough to pick out a microscopic part of the hobby and pirate it...
I've never received payment in dollars for my OP work but it still feels sneaky and nasty to think that someone is pinching the stuff... How odd.

Got it. Will notify him when I find it again. As for 7.x, I saw 7.0 when I saw 5.x of some kind, but I'm not sure if it was 7th or 7.5. But they had both a 5 and a 7 of some form pirated into PDF. Who knows without looking, they shouldn't have it anyway so the point might be moot. Hogscape, that's really something. You make a point I had not thought about. Hmmm.

"that guy" sent me your email but he seemed more concerned why this edition was being referred to as M6E.... -lol- ;D I think it's pretty neat that something I banged out first here (I think in one of those long Sixth Edition threads) some time ago has caught on. But I don't understand why he's confused... I've never received payment in dollars for my OP work ... Umm. What?

I only do what I do in the hope of keeping the game going. "that guy" sends me copies of products that I have a hand in. That'll do me.

Hm. So, he's confused that the now-common "M6E" designation includes part of it's actual title? "Mythical Sixth Edition", instead of just simply "6th" or "6e" or some such? What an odd duck.
Heck, if there was a new edition written by Ken and published by FBI and was titled something like "Awesome Eighth Edition", I'd likely call it A8E. If Mythical Sixth was just titled Sixth Edition, I think it would have been highly likely we'd all be calling it 6th. *shrug*
Then again, it being from "that company", we may refer to it as OP6. I dunno. I just don't get why he's confused, or why it matters.
Errmm...unless he simply really didn't get what it referred to at all...

Legal pdf's need to be made and put out there at a reasonably LOW price... at least as a form of advertising for the game !
I for one have seen M6E, 7th, and 5th up on teh interwebs.... and the 'net being what it is... I suppose we can all at least be happy that T&T WILL live forever; at least in a sense.
and thanks to the wayback machine... even when the hosting sites go down; they will STILL be out there....
and thanks to torrents... even when and if the wayback machine goes down they will STILL be there...FOREVER....
I would like to see some legal T&T pdf reference sheets to make a nice customized GM screen... but otherwise I am very happy with my dead tree versions of MSPE (wish I had a conversion of that to fantasy or sci-fi ... or even horror), the corgi pocket T&T (nicely portable !); and of course my beloved 5e book... Liz Danforth's art is what, to me - IS T&T; and one of the main reasons I bought it.
I AM interested in buying a PDF of 7.5 E... or if there really IS an 8th edition coming out I might wait for that, even though for some reason I have been am unable to convince people to play a game that is not readily available on bookstores or game store shelves in dead tree version!
Print on demand.. special order by ISBN... etc.... is NOT ENOUGH.
The gamer with some cash in his or her pocket who SEES a hardcopy on the shelf in front of them may buy and try... or an onlooker watching a game at the FLGS table where people are referencing nice, well illustrated BOOKS might become interested... but IMHO generally wont care about the game if the table is using shady 3 ring binders of single sided pdf printouts..... or laptop or netbook pdfs in play, for that matter.
Rick and Ken need to take a long hard look at the D&D retroclones that are or will be in distribution AND AVAILABLE ON STORE SHELVES (Labyrinth Lord in November, Swords and Wizardry soon after; for instance). Mail and online ordering just do NOT cut it... the game needs to be out in the public eye...on shelves and being played to get more fans and to generate more interest (and revenue stream, for those with a vested interest).
To, to summarize - get nice LEGAL pdfs made and out for sale... please OCR and nice picture scans only... at a reasonable price (NO printed book pricing, please - 7.5 I am looking at YOU).. AND get the actual books available in stores.

Hi thar Bdfiscus, get in the ear of your local game store, they'll order T&T in if you bark loud enough. There's only so much space on the shelf and it's a competitive battleground. A few guys putting together books in their lunch breaks don't compete with Wizards...
