feldrik and prof both, I think we three are talking sorta past each other. It does seem we all agree, we're just saying it in different ways perhaps. Prof did state after all that it was the minor legal-dodging changes (that are indeed necessary) that he had in mind. I've really got nothing to offer in the name dept. Everything that crosses my mind doesn't have any zest. The name "Legends of Tunnels & Trolls" has a nice ring...but it's way too close to the plantation, ya know. Love 'em or hate 'em, there's something so...visceral...so...vital about the feel and sound of the words "Dungeons & Dragons" and "Tunnels & Trolls". Hard to ferret out something so...loaded as those are. Come to think of it, there really aren't that many rpgs out there that I think have good titles at all. Warhammer is boring. Castles & Crusades is boring. Savage Worlds is passable. GURPS is ugly. MERP sounds silly. All Flesh Must Be Eaten is ok but way too long. Iron Gauntlets is bland. Arrowflight is...an odd choice. Ars Magica is pompous. Again, I really, really, really wish Swords & Wizardry wasn't taken. Not to use it (though it's an awesome ampersand name), but so that Swords & Deviltry, as Hogscape suggested, could be used. I'm trying to put my head in a place that isn't 'name of game' heavy. Somewhere else for inspiration, and I keep misfiring. I know I'm not saying anything we all don't already know, but, true to my form, I'll say it anyway. ;D It needs to have real 'zip'. It needs to have atmosphere. It can't obscure what it is. ("..to thine own self be true.") But at the same time, it can't be generic. Referencing "troll" or "trolls" seems to be fitting. On the other hand, referencing "dungeons" make it seem like..well..like another game. Tricky. Tricky.

How about, "Towers & Titans" it's still T&T but in reverse "Towers" as high as "Tunnels" are low ant "Titans" the opposite of "Trolls".
Since we're talking in a Fritz Lieber vein, if "Swords & Wizardry" is taken how about the title Fritz coined himself "Swords & Sorcery".
The classics never die!
I'm just sad that such a good name as "High Adventure" has been taken, that always makes me think of Howard.

One thing to think about too, when it comes to the introduction of changes/improvements etc is section 3. You know - Elaborations! Seems a natural point to introduce whatever options/variations and such we might decide to include.
I've held off on voting on name - I like many of the suggestions and intentions behind them. Can't tell you how much I like 'Dark Dungeons'! Keeping Trolls seems an important no-brainer to me... DDT (!) Dark Dungeons of the Troll! (more brainstorming...) - I think that the title would be better determined at a latter point, something might jump out at us like a cave snake...Trollbridge Elaborations? And also if trollbridge ends up being used, better ask Vin if that's OK with him...
Right now 'dark dungeons' is the working name I'm using in the privacy of my own head.
How about "Chicks & Chainmails"! (just kidding)

Hey, I know: Trollbridge Open I'll be happy to collate and layout... but the title's the LAST thing we need if we're going to do it. What we DO need is: - to write the rules in clear, relatively standard, English
- divvy up the work in a meaningful way
- proofread and playtest!
- have a consistent view.
That last is vital. How many stats? (6? 7? 8? maybe even 10?) Which ones? Pow, Wiz, Kremm, Arcana, or Magic? Add perception? Do we use 1.x-5.x advancement, or 6.x advancement, or 7.x advancement, or something else? TARO or Not?

I like traditional means of leveling up, i.e. AP/EP. Not 7.x's your stats equal your level. I know that was a way to balance out problems with stats and level disparity in 5e, but that's just what I like. In the clone, I think you can find a way to make up for that disparity. Hey, D&D didn't have as huge of a problem between stats and level. So I think another means can certainly be done

I think the name is very important, the name gives us purpose and direction. Ducks & Dice, goes whole different place to Darkness & Delight.
Thanks Hog, even when we're brainstorming we get threadjacked, LOL.

I think the name is very important, the name gives us purpose and direction. I totally agree. However, what none of use will agree on is a name. Besides, we already have our purpose and direction, yes? 5th ed. T&T. What more do we need?

Since we're talking in a Fritz Lieber vein, if "Swords & Wizardry" is taken how about the title Fritz coined himself "Swords & Sorcery". It isn't just that S&W is taken, it's also that, since it's taken, by proxy it takes up the space with other similar names as well. Besides, there's also a semi-clone called Spellcraft & Swordplay. There's just way, way too many alliterative ampersands and 'sword n sorcery' sounding names out there. I wish it weren't so, but it is. I think this is probably a fool's game. I don't see how we'll agree on one name.

How about: The T&T Fifth Edition Revival That Hopefully Doesn't Tread On Anyone's Toes? (TM pending) -LOL- Perfect. Unfortunately, I hate you and the name isn't the one I came up with so it doesn't massage my geek ego, therefore I'll have to say, 'no, we can't use that'.

Hogscape: in regards to your most recent list... We can't use both the words, "Tunnels" and "Trolls", as it's way too close. It may even be challenged as a theft of copyright. Unless the name was some long sentence that happened to use both words, but who'd want a game called: The Dangerous Exploration of Many Underground Tunnels in Which Live Vile Trolls That Must Be Summarily Dispatched? ;D
You mentioned another Leiber title. Now, see, I really like the idea of the Swords Against ____, but over the past couple of days haven't been able to fill in the blank, so I didn't bring it up. Swords Against Death is a cool title, but it might make it seem the game was about something else entirely. Swords Against Trolls and so on...is just boring... like all the other things I've tried to come up with...
