Just an idea but did Ken copyright his original name for T&T?
Tunnels & Troglodytes
If not that would seem ideal. ;D

You can't copyright a name. You CAN trademark it, however. T&T and Tunnels and Trolls are trademarks of Flying Buffalo, Inc.

Pardon if I got the parlance incorrect is "Tunnels & Troglodytes" the original name of "Tunnels & Trolls" trademarked.
Because if not it would seem ideal.

Still have a similar problem. T&T. How would we differentiate the two in discussion and so on without resorting to the longhand titles of the games?

Well if you wanted to be blunt about it how about "Tunnels & Clones".

How would we differentiate the two in discussion and so on without resorting to the longhand titles of the games? TNT? It does, after all, seem to be an explosive topic... ;D Ha ha! For certain. Though, not as much as it seems. I mean, after all, when trying to get a point across on a forum, it seems like one (well, I can only speak for myself, I suppose) needs to go beyond what's one might originally say or write. Folks routinely ignore or miss or misread online, thus the need for 'turning it up to 11' sometimes. If the person doesn't get it then, then it's pretty obvious they're either a) dumb or b) being deliberately obtuse. This has the unfortunate consequence of making it seem like everyone's 'yelling at each other' (or that people are getting personal) when, really, such is not the case. I'd call it.....contentious.

'Deliberately obtuse' is extremely useful for winding up the wife. I have that at level 7 but I seem to take damage even with a successful Saving Roll.
I think Tunnels & Trolls is trademarked but not T&T. I prefer Tunnels and Trogs over troglodites. I seem to remember that troglodites smell quite badly (from my BD&D days).

Of course "Trogs" makes me think of the Ray Harryhausen stop motion fest "Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger".
And thats never bad! ;D

Of course "Trogs" makes me think of the Ray Harryhausen stop motion fest "Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger". It makes me think of the minor horror film The Pit. "Jamie wouldn't kill anyone...unless Teddy told him to!" But, yeah...like I said above. I'm a teddy bear. The kind of teddy bear that tells people to kill.

Anyway. I actually like Tunnels & Trogs, but it still makes me worry that it's a bit too close and may draw more unhappy attention than otherwise. Call it or TrollBridge a 'stop-gap' while we're in a holding pattern to see if the clone is actually even necessary yet (if 5.5 isn't printed anew again, or if it does or does not get a pdf, print on demand, etc.).
To bring one out right now would be....really rude, probably.

Yeah I agree. But I think having it developed and ready to go in the meantime, and then if that day does come, the clone will already be ready. Preparations just in case. If that day never comes, then even better actually. I still like TrollBridge. I voted for that.

How about "Tunnels and Trows" ??
From wikipedia - Trolls: (a very cool article btw !)
"In the Faroe islands, Orkney and Shetland tales, trolls are called trows, adopted from the Norse language when these islands were settled by Vikings."
What do you think ?
