I bought the Weirdworld PDF the other day, it is the only Solo I never had. In any case I was a little saddened by the state of the PDF sooo I fixed it. Basically I exported it to TIFF and then ran it through GIMP to clean all the bleed through off and even added the Errata for 12C. I then put back into Acrobat and ran it through OCR clearscan it comes out perfect at only 2MB [the downloaded one is 7MB]. I'm going to send off to Rick at FBI to see if he would consider re-uploading it. BUT the perfectionist in me wants to restore the COVER to 2-color. I know it is REDish but I need to see or have a jpeg of the original cover. Anyone wanna help me out.

Here I scaled and cleaned that one so I can use it. How's it look now. -Mike Attachments:

Much better. That's one I found off Boardgamegeek. I suppose if you wanted the best, one of us could scan a matching cover. That is, if that one I linked wasn't adequate enough.

The 72dpi was blurry when printed and in the PDF of course so used the color pallet and just did it the hard way. I think it is good enough [it's a hell of a lot better then what was there] and I left the background white so it can be printed on whatever. Here it is. Attachments:

Ah. That one is definitely an improvement. Of course, I'll have to take your word on it on how it looked when you printed it out. I do know that the PDF version of Weirdworld had that water damage issue, so hopefully Rick Loomis takes your edit. And then hopefully I'll be able to re-download it or something since I did buy all of those PDFs. But no biggie if not. I have a hardcopy 2nd edition too anyway.

Well it's away! We'll see if he will post it. Fingers crossed for all the PDF customers.

Nice work Mike.
Mike and JJB, how do you find the solo to play. My dim and distant memories are that it's a bit naff?

I have to admit I have not played it since 1981 and my memory is like yours a bit "naff". Probably why I never bothered to buy it back then. However I'm going to give it a run soon and I'll post my impression of it now.

Agree with both of you. It was a bit 'naff'. I didn't give it a review rating on my website yet, because I wanted to play it again and post a more informative review than just giving it a X out of 5 stars. But based on past experience many years ago, I would say 1 out of 5 stars which is my lowest.
Edit: Oh, and there are a couple smudges on the right side of my Weirdworld cover or I'd scan it to see if I can get you a higher quality version. Otherwise you'd have to photoshop it.

No worries I'm satisfied with what it is now. If Rick decides to push it out the PDF stores I can say that anyone who buys it will be a heck of lot happier with the cleaned up version. It's pretty crisp and should print fine. The White cover and the imperfections in coloring just make it easier to spot forgery -Mike

Thanks! I have an even bigger surprise for everyone but I'm going to hold off until I hear from Rick about it. He did reply to the Weirdworld pdf saying he'd take a look at it next week when he gets back from Germany. [He's at Spiel Game Show which sounds cool.] -Mike

Good work, mgtremaine! I hope that Rick accepts it.
I got here too late to offer a scan of my Weirdworld cover, but since mine turns out to be completely different to the images above, I guess that it doesn't matter that much.
Waiting on that other news with bated breath!
