I think we need to send this message to a much wider audience than we have to ensure that something like this never happens again. Personally, i think what he did before was discraceful but, this is just the icing on the [insert expletives here] cake!
Google is deffinatly covered after i checked on him. Spock is covered too. All the RPG boards accross the net seem to be mounting in the anti-"that guy" sentiments but, i still think there is plenty more we could do to ensure that his prospects of ever pulling any stunt like he ever has done are null or close to it.
- First thing we can do is keep all the threads like these going accross the net with hos latest movements and cons. The poor guy that got ripped off by him would make a good news release.
- Contact the local media in "that guy"'s area with this story. Who will want to use an attorny that has been slurred in such a way in the media.
- Use every account we have on E-bay, Amazon and similar sites to overload him with negative feedback.
- Form Facebook and Myspace groups to this effect also to spread the message on mass.
- If possible, sign a declaration of war against the tit!
Mostly my thoughts out loud on how royally this guy has annoyed me with the depths of subversion he has sunk to. Anyone think any of the above is a viable option??

I read an article by a newspaper columnist long ago that was praising a town in Georgia that had banned his book from the local library. By banning his book, it put him (the author) on the national stage and forced people to take notice, which in turn, increased his sales. I don't want to compare Mr. "that guy"'s actions to the newspaper columnists. They are not the same by a long shot. However, I am concerned that by drawing attention to him and his actions on a large scale will have an adverse affect on what we'd be trying to accomplish. Those wronged by him should pursue every legal avenue available to them and seek recompense of their damages. However, to make the issue public by "spamming" or flooding various sites can very likely run counter to the very thing want to achieve. I draw your attention to this webcomic site: www.schlockmercenary.com/index.htmlIf you're not familiar, this webcomic is being voted on for certain honors. The author of the comic asked that people go to the place to vote and vote for him, and mentioned off the cuff that it appeared to be easy to spoof the election. Well... Someone did just that. And the results aren't pretty. We don't want our image as fans of T&T to appear as though we are vengeful and wrathful, and willing to go to extremes when someone does something stupid. We want people to join our ranks, not to be scared of us! Again, I don't condone the actions taken by Mr. "that guy". I am not defending him in any way. I agree that those of us who are aware of the situation should not do business with him. But those of us who have not been personally wronged by him have no business interfering with the legal redress of those that have.

I think slow and steady will be enough to put him out of business. Mira brought up how tough Ebay can be, I think if he has committed fraud by selling a reprint instead of the original as advertised should be a red flag to them. The next time he tries to sell Best of HH on Ebay people who have articles being illegally used can point that out to Ebay and at that point I would be surprised if he was not locked out. [Selling 1 HH might not have been enough but if you can show a pattern of distribution of new material that is infringing on copyright I think that is enough.]
In any case I feel bad for the buyer but he sound like he was careful enough to use pay-pal with a credit card so he has 2 chance to void the payment. Which will make Ebay take notices if they get stuck with $1300.

I don't want us to sound/seem like yelling, crazy, fussy people. But then on the other hand, I'm loathe to put a clamp on discussing such a problematic issue (as some folks at another place would like to do...ignoring it makes it seem as though you think it's unimportant or that it's condoned after a fashion). Wadda I know. I propose lawn darts on his face to decide the matter.

(ponders)
Anybody know the going price of rattan strips and pitch? Oh, and how much of the stuff would we need for say, a a thirty foot tall Flaming Wicker Man?
It's really been awhile since I needed one you see, and most fifth-graders don't need anything taller than say, eight feet or so...

The irony, it looks like he'll soon have another FBI on his back from what's written there.

I don't think the FBI will mobilise the Law Machine for $1,400.00. However, the purchasers says he has the time and inclination to take it all the way. Huzzah!

Good for him, if he can do so. The banditry of this 'black hobbit' has gone on far too long!

Mahrundl, in the past he's done things that he thought he could get away with... In fact, if he hadn't branched out on to Drivethru/RPGNow, he probably wouldn't have come to the attention of the wider community.
But how he thought he could pull this blatant fraud off is beyond me. What's next, the T&T Longdon Bridge?

Mr "that guy" is not a Hobbit, black or any other colour. I feel to call him such is to hide the truth, he is a real person, hurting other real people. He is not a clever little Rogue but someone who is practising fraud and deception. His actions are not Roleplay and should not be obscured by RPG speak. Sorry but this isn't a game.
( Not that anyone here thinks it is )

At least "hobbit" slips through unedited...

Using Hobbit for "that guy" is a disservice to the Memory of Prof. Tolkein.
James is a suspect in a number of crimes, torts, and civil violations now. Hopefully he will be prosecuted for those. 'Nuf said.

The use of 'black hobbit' was as a throwaway line. Not intended to hide the truth, not intended as a dis-service to the late Professor Tolkien. Don't read more into it than was intended.
I do not, in any way, condone Mr. "that guy"'s actions.
