I thought I'd throw another plug in for my blog, "The Lone Delver." I had another one around here somewhere, but I can't seem to find it. My latest post is part 1 of the adventures of Phineas the Red. I am running a character through a series of solo adventures to see how long he lives. I am using the 7.5 rules and my own level and attribute advancement system. Here is the link: danhemsgamingblog.blogspot.com/

I've added a new installment to my Solo Design series to the Lone Delver. This article deals with choices in solo adventures.

Yes, Danhem, your blog fell off my RADAR for a while there but it remains a 'must read'. Brilliant work.

The adventures of Phineas the Red continue over at The Lone Delver. I finally had the chance to continue his run through Sword for Hire and write it up. Have a read at: danhemsgamingblog.blogspot.com/

New blog post over at The Lone Delver. I had a crazy idea about earning APs in between adventures as a way of burning off excess cash. See what you think. Has anyone else tried this before? danhemsgamingblog.blogspot.com

I have wanted to do something like this. Barbarians of Lemuria has you spend treasure for AP, the more outrageous, or exotic the story the player tells about his debauchery and research the more AP they get.
For my Lonely Mountain game I want to use such a method to bleed off cash and let the PCs gain for it. I will see how this works for me.

I added a new post to The Lone Delver a few days ago introducing some house rules for shields to make them more than passive armor. This stemmed from a discussion I started at Trollhalla on the relative merits of fighting with two weapons or weapon and shield. danhemsgamingblog.blogspot.com/

As a staunch proponent of the shield I really enjoyed this blog post.
I especially like the shield versus missile weapons and shields versus spite damage rules, both of which seems to really capture the feel of the shield as both defense and weapon.
Have an exalt my friend, thats some really good stuff! ;D

Danhem, thanks for some new ideas on using shields. I have a dwarven warrior who I've actually given paired shields to. I haven't gotten around to actually playing him as he was created as an NPC for a game that never got off the ground. The idea was to make him an immovable defender. The suggestions that you posted should help with that concept if I can ever get him into play.

I've started a series of posts at The Lone Delver discussing the evolution of Tunnels and Trolls from the 1st edition to the 7th. The first, very long, post is about the big five nonhuman kindred. Check it out at: danhemsgamingblog.blogspot.com

Danhem, your latest article provides for some interesting insights. I may just drop in a house rule and keep fairies Con at a modifier of 1, maybe 1/2. I understand that they're small but geeze at 1/4 they could sneeze while flying and run into a tree killing themselves. As a quick note, in your comparison of the kindred across the different editions near the end, the listings for Hobbit, Leprechaun and Fairy have two listings each for 5th Ed. I think the second is supposed to be 7th Ed.

Copy/Paste strikes again. Thanks ProfGremlin.
I agree with you on the CON adjustment for fairies. It does make them ridiculously fragile. A one-half reduction is more reasonable. If we're going to claim magic allows them to fly, then it could also bolster their physical structure. You also run into the problem of CON-based saving rolls (against disease or poison for example).

you could also try the roll 3d6 and only use the worst 2 , for fairy CON from the alternative 30th anniversary edition rules(now available from Trollhalla , i heard)
