Dread: Dredd is a RPG using a Jenga tower for resolving conflicts, very different from most other games.
Adventure Presents is more like T&T as they are using d6s, throwing 3d6 for checks, but with attributes limited to values 1-4 where the value tells you which (if any) dice to drop, it is still very different from T&T with its "sky is the limit" approach. I played with a guy who had tried it, or a least i think it was dread; it used jeng tower, and I don't think that it could be two rpg's that does that, and thought it was fun.

Oh I won't deny that the games from Rebellion are fun. But they are also quite lightweight compared to any T&T I know. And T&T already isn't a rules heavy game. So I'm not sure how T&T will mix with their existing portfolio of RPGs. It's like putting a fantasy novel between a bunch of fantasy comics.

Ken and Steve should "troll" Rebellion by releasing a version of Monsters! Monsters! which flips the game on its head by making the heroic adventurers the PC's and resurrect Tunnels & Trolls' original name and call it Tunnels & Troglodytes, or T&T for short. They might need to rename some of the spells - Take That You Fool could become, oh, I don't know, Take That You Fiend, perhaps? A nice Kickstarter following the format of the recent M!M! ones and job done - it's 1983 all over again.
Then whatever Rebellion do with the old game wouldn't matter.

Taverns & Terrors. Or Towers & Terrors. And Mental Death Blast.

I personally don't feel as though I need to choose between T&T or M!M! And if I did, I suppose I'd end up sticking with T&T, though there isn't really a lot of daylight between 'em. T&T is where my memories, nostalgia and heart lie. I know the two are compatible, and that's great. I bought Lair of the Leopard Empresses, and have been playing in a game of it. A game, oddly enough, run by a guy who never was a big T&T fan, but who really likes LotLE. For those of us who remember the lean years of T&T, the time since since the ill-fated sale to Webbed Sphere is hardly the blink of an eye.
I guess what I'm trying to say, is that it's nice to see T&T in the hands of a company with an established track record in the games biz. Sure, T&T is different from their usual stuff. But the CEO of Rebellion is a fan, and fans are what's kept T&T alive all of these years.
When I see comments like "Forget Rebellion,' or "the only true heir to T&T is," they're kind of a turn-off, honestly. I get it, you want to promote M1M! and see it do well. And I want that for you. But it's still a little off-putting.
I hope M!M! is a success for Ken and Steve. But I also hope Rebellion does right by the T&T property, and if/when they do, I'll be waiting, with cash in hand. To me, M!M! and T&T can both exist in the same space. As well they should.

In my games, I am creating portal to Zimrala, Ximuria from Trollworld and to my new location Thardag, plus other locations, like Arbor (if I spelt it right, that stuff on my laptop and I working from my main computer right now).
I think it a greater expanse allowing for multiple types of adventure.
Granted I not a bit fan of Monster Power, I started feeling that on Trollworld, that the good Kin were the villains and the poor monsters were suffering because of the Kins' actions...
So, looking forward to what Rebellion has to offer, even if it is an exact duplicate of what we have experienced from T&T, because it is keeping a game that has survived for 50 years alive, and hopefully it will see another 50 years?

I don't mean to insult Rebellion and I certainly wish them the best - but right now, Monsters!Monsters! is the only Ken St Andre T&T related game still publishing. No new official T&T material has been released since early 2021 (I know because we published it via Flying buffalo). I truly hope that we see a great resurgence of T&T when Rebellion releases a new edition. What they will do with it, we have no idea. The fact that a old time fan is now its owner certainly adds a lot of hope that they will "get" the feel for T&T and its history. Let us hope! And YES both can (and will) certainly exist at the same time.

I can see M!M! being OSR to Rebellion's 5E.
I think T&T will be modernised, to at least some extent, and I think there will be room for both the old school t&t/m!m! and the new. I can even see Ken and Steve being able to use the T&T name for thier projects.
This is based on nothing more than a feeling though.

So, the thing I love about games like Tunnels & Trolls, Monsters! Monsters! & Mercenaires, Spies and Private Eyes is the ability to use these systems like tools to create your own solitare and/or GM games from only one core rule book! Above all else, I sincerely hope that any future core books are focused on both solo roloeplaying and GM Worldbuilding outside of published modules. I hope they attempt to do right! I also hope that the core books reflect Flying Buffalo's standard they had, the talent they had for making games that were more hobby focused, rather than trying to monotozie anything they could and the strong commitment Flying Bufflao had towards making games that were also aimed at hobbyists! This is what I hope for and am going to stay tuned in here for awhile!

Wow! That was a great read and they are still showing love towards the classic game and are actively encouraging people to buy from Drive Thru or directly through the new Flying Buffalo website! This is a good sign and I'm glad to see that they still stock Nuclear War! I love that game! I backed that Kickstarter years ago and even though I only received only part of what I backed for, what I got is still a very fun game!!! So, it's all good! Glad to see you can still purchase material for the game direct from them still!

Can you give a specific quote that's new? It all looks like older, previously-released statements to me.

Can you give a specific quote that's new? It all looks like older, previously-released statements to me. I'm not clear that any of it's new. I just hadn't noticed it before. But this seems new to me, from the FAQ, in answer to the question, "Will I be able to publish my fan-made, Tunnels & Trolls contents in the future?"
[/quote][/div]
I know there was some uncertainty over whether there would be a third-party license available.
