I'm the other way around. I've got 5.5 but not 7th. I can say that 5.5 doesn't leave me feeling that something is "missing". I'm sure you'll be pleased with it.

Summer is a hard time for on-line world. Most of my games end in summer when players or GM get tired of slow or poorly thought out replies. Plus our T&T community is aging! Thirty and forty-somethings have so much more to do than the old days of 10-hour gaming marathons. I have managed one new T&T convert recently. That convert was by accident and not design. Meanwhile, my kid and his friend (my two most regular players) have gone and become moody teenagers. I do what I can to keep them engaged although they seem to be happy living on the computer instead of looking at a pencil and paper game. I suspect I am failing at keeping up with the mind-numbing capabilities of free flash games. The complaint about multiple versions is well heard. I've been playing just T&T7 to support only one version. Although a small gesture, T&T of all games is susceptible to small gestures. Remember T&T6 is not encouraged by FBInc. Lawsuits against T&T6 are expensive, time consuming, and will produce little results. I feel for Rick. T&T6 should go away and stop rising up like some strange f8 Zombie. T&T has survived worse treatment. Late eighties and early nineties were a bad dark decade. It always gets better. FBInc wouldn't have authorized T&T7 without the fan base.

Well, I threw my support behind 7E in the firm belief that it was Ken's vision of an "updated" T&T. I'm rather disheartened by the "wow" factor I felt for 7E in the general RPG community. I'm begining to thing that maybe me tasts run a little contrary to the norm these days

Hehehheh I don't know about your tastes. I stuck with T&T through the years by ignoring the details that bugged me. In the 70's and 80's, I thought the spell names were silly. Now? It is nostalgia. All it took was 20 years of Deep Thought and mucking about with other game systems to bring me around. Weight Unit used to drive me nuts. Really who'd try to use a 12 lb broadsword? ;D Eventually I reconciled WU as a sliding scale based on perception. A 3 lb broadsword sure felt heavy for a mere STR 14 character, while the STR 25 warrior swung the sword around effortlessly. T&T7 has further reinforced T&T's foundation. Artificial Type limits are slowly going away. We now have Talents which helps characters perform some actions better than others. Specialists help break up the casual cheating involved in creating Paragons. As game changes go, T&T7 was not a complete re-write and mostly additive - for which I am [glow=green,2,300]very thankful[/glow] I've seen radically changed versions radically change the original game system. For example: RuneQuest was heavily stressed two editions ago, and nearly killed by the rewrite to RuneSlayers. Thank goodness someone pulled it away from the yawning abyss.

I rather liked Runeslayers...still, nobody would confuse it with Runequest. And the jury's still out on Hero Wars. One of the great things about T&T is the evolutionary (rather than the "revolutionary" of 3E) changes between editions-now, if MS&PE would get that 2nd ed. facelift, i'd have an excuse to purchase more toys...

The T&T love hasn't gone away after all. The latest news is that "that company" has reached a deal with FBI and obtained official permission to publish T&T products. I don't know the full details, but I'm sure there will be more said about this in the days ahead, so keep your ear to the ground. If anyone here knows the full details, then spill 'em!!

The T&T love hasn't gone away after all. The latest news is that "that company" has reached a deal with FBI and obtained official permission to publish T&T products. 7E stuff? 5E stuff? (Heaven's forbid) 6E stuff? I've hitched my cart to 7E because i've assumed that that's the latest direction Ken saw his game going in. Assuming that, I'd like to see stuff for Ken's "latest" version of T&T. Things have been muddied enough with 5.5 and 7 and now 6E that i must confess, i'm a little uncomfertable about where this could go. Pick an edition and have it grow! TSR tryed to support both Basic and Advanced without much success. Let's not see T&T fall into the same multi-editional fiasco. I put my money behind 7E because I thought it was Ken's vision of T&T's future direction. I'm hoping "that company"' "new deal" wont invalidate 7E in favor of thier blessed 6E. Skath,
6th edition isn't official though. If OP are going to be producing Official Products, then they'd probably have to be either 5th edition or 7th. I'd expect that the emphasis will be on 7th.
What I'd really like to see** is products designed to work with 5th *and* 7th, even if they just contain a rough conversion method from one to the other.
I guess that it will all depend on the details. Will OP be able to make content related decisions, or will it just be a case of publishing stuff that they are given? It's going to be interesting...
** I do wonder if we may see some of the out-of-print classics reprinted. It may or may not be possible, but I'd very much like to see the 'Sorcerer's Apprentice' magazines reprinted...

The following was posted by "that guy", of "that company", in the Blue Frog Tavern group on Yahoo. I'm posting it here for those of you not in the BFT group. BREAKING NEWS: "that company", Inc. now has "official" permission to publish T&T products from FBI! Our new partnership should produce great things for T&T in the future! Plus everything we already sell becomes "official" in the T&T World. If you attend any conventions where Rick/FBI attends you will see him selling our T&T items.
"that company" sells many different new and used Tunnels & Trolls products such as; T&T solos, T&T magazines, T&T comics, and T&T GM campaign books. You can see all of them by visiting the "that company" web site here: www.geocities.com/hobbit_lands/
NOTE: T&T and Tunnels & TrollsT are trademarks of Flying Buffalo Inc. You can visit them by going to www.flyingbuffalo.com
This almost makes it sound like OP's 6e might be considered an "official" T&T product now. Take that for what it's worth. Personally, I'm with you, Skathros. I would just as soon focus on one version, and despite its faults, I'd prefer that version to be 7e. But I know there are some die-hard 5.5 T&T'ers, so I expect it will be around for some time to come. Products that support both 5.5 and 7e would be cool. For what it's worth, I'm not interested in any 6e products, myself. Two versions of T&T are more than enough. I wonder if KSA could come up with a new set of rules (8e) that would bind 5.5 and 7e together...

I agree a 'fully fleshed' out 8e would be very cool indeed...or even a 7e companion booklet...

8E... Oh my... Will it have Feats, skills and AOO's... *As Skathros would say... twice as good as the other's 4E...
