Some people should know better...
Anybody whose work is featured in "Best of the Hobbit Hole" without permission can report him to e-Bay. E-bay is very harsh when it comes to handling reports of IP infringement because of all the criticism they received not long ago about aiding piracy. They are even harsher when someone claims false copyrights over materials they don't own and for which they have no written contracts to back up their claims. Moreover, if someone is reported for IP theft more than twice, their e-Bay account is suspended indefinitely and sometimes even their associated PayPal account is flagged for investigation, and might even be suspended. Someone once told me that in extreme cases they will even report you to local authorities if they consider that the magnitude of your operations warrants it. It happened to a friend of mine about 3 years ago, and he was only selling books that he bought elsewhere and he didn't know were infringing copyright--as opposed to printing them himself. He offered to take the books down, and he offered to return the money for the items already sold. He had to do both and it wasn't pretty, and he's still suspended from both e-Bay and PayPal. When it comes to them, it's wise to be squeaky clean and 100% legit.
Someone that has several pages of Google results saying he steals IP and is accused of massively infringing copyrights should not be throwing rocks at a beehive. But again, some people are just dumb for legal matters I guess.

What ea said. ;0).
I agree though, something really should be done about people who feel they can do whatever they want... And aren't me of course. ;0). Although, i has a strong distain for thieves.

I myself am tired of it. I notice that I am the only author that hasn't either been paid for my reproductions nor willingly just given away my material in the first place. I actually do not harbor that much resentment towards being included beyond the fact that the owner stated that my works would no longer be included. I do not like to see people say one thing then do another.
More practically, "that company" is on close out deals, and has many people waiting for the next trick to occur before getting serious. Let the dude sell his inventory of fanzine material at 1/10th the cost he used to charge to a willing audience a year before. And watching the on-going puppet show elsewhere is rewards enough for my ittsy-bitsy contributions.

So what is the status on the Lulu situation, any word of what needs to be done before they will allow T&T items again? -Mike As far as I can tell, it is good to go. I've not received any contact from Lulu and have begun to repopulate the storefront as submissions are sent to it.

From Ken's recent message it appears that there has been more shenanigans at Trollhalla.
A mystery poster has apparently been slurring the good name of Mari (one of TrollsZine's art contributors) in some fashion. It can only be one individual....
The perpetrator must be running out of steam by now but surely enough is enough?

You are very right, Hogscape (and sorry for the long post in advance). Apparently, writing bogus blog posts and sending equally bogus e-mails in Ken's name is the new "that guy" tactic.
Here's the e-mail I received yesterday from "Khenn" (almost didn’t see it because it went straight to Spam), as the sender’s address could not be verified.
------------------------------------------------------------------------ from Khenn Arrth [...] reply-to Dave [...] to Ealnaatha Vaelmarrri [...] date Sun, Jan 31, 2010 at 10:48 AM subject [Trollhalla] You are leaving Trollhalla
Greetings Mari,
After all the trouble with "that company" I think you should quietly leave the ranks of Trollhalla. I will remove your ID later today. I'm sorry I once called you a friend.
Khenn Arrth
P.S. I will explain more later if I care to do so.
--Khenn ------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's an unfortunate coincidence that the only verifiable address, the reply-to address, is that of Trollhallan newcomer David A. Ullery or Garrlakk, who says on his website, even after Ken has repeatedly asked true T&T fans to withdraw from making contributions of materials to "that company", “I am currently freelancing articles and illustrations for "that company" who publishes fanzines and Roll Playing Games (RPG) for the Tunnels & Trolls market specifically” and whose art graces that extraordinarily illegal “Best of the Hobbit Hole” publication, which is still being sold by "that guy" on E-Bay. Hmmm. The great thing about the Internet though, is that the service used to send that fake e-mail (GonMad), records the real sender’s data, including their IP. So I wrote to them immediately and here's what they had to say today about the identity of the real sender:
------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hi Mari, I have checked our logs and this is the entry for the message with id [...]:
SENT [...]: Sun, 31 Jan 2010 15:50:46 FROM Dave [...] TO Ealnaatha Vaelmarrri [...] AS Khenn Arrth [...] SUBJECT: [Trollhalla] You are leaving Trollhalla REMOTE HOST: IP ADDRESS: 4.159.56.64
So, this is the IP address used by the real sender's computer at the time the message was confirmed and actually sent. The FROM address in the above log entry is the email address that the confirmation password was sent to, therefore the real sender of the message must have had access to that yahoo email account at the time the message was created.
I hope this helps.
Regards, Dan Gibson GonMad.co.uk / MailFool.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That means that not only it was James who sent that e-mail (the IP address matches one of the many he's used to post elsewhere before under his own name), but it also means that he had access to David A. Ullery's e-mail to confirm the message code for it in order to get the message sent. Shocking! Moreover, the ISP registered for this address is Level 3 Communications, which is the same for the IP used to post as Ken on the Geek Related blog on January 19th.
I guess everyone is capable of reaching their own conclusions.
People should seriously take the time to carefully read the Terms of Service for stuff like Yahoo! Mail and ISP services. Maybe that way they'll realize all the things that actually qualify as abuse... They again, maybe some people are just too lazy or dumb.
Now, after filing an abuse report with Yahoo! Mail, I better go file another one with Level 3 Communications.

And looking at that Amazon page it looks as though he's back to using the CreateSpace service for print-on-demand again. Whether he's selling on their website I don't know, as one cannot do a search or browse unless you have a membership (and I'd rather not sign up just to take a look-see).
I'd guess he still has all or most of his stuff still up on CreateSpace, at the very least as a means of printing and having them sent to him to sell on eBay (such as the Best of HH).

I have to wonder too about the sock-puppet deal on Trollhalla and the Geek Related blog. Could there be a (recent) member here (perhaps even one who's mentioned future T&T releases) whos IP or ISP and location be the same? It may be worth the mods looking into.
